Big Bear: A Snow Date
About two hours away is Big Bear Lake and with all the rain we've been receiving lately in LA, I had to take advantage and am finally able to cross off my bucket list: "see snow."
Yes, after 28 years and having lived in Southern California my entire life, I finally threw my first snowball and made a snow angel. I had so much fun but I must admit that I did make the mistake of playing with snow with bare hands. I quickly learned after those 10 minutes that I needed to throw on my gloves for the remainder of the trip. Hah.
We spent the entire day in Big Bear, shooting three looks total while admiring the beauty of the area. I'm actually pretty proud of myself, as you can imagine changing in the car in the cold is the least comfortable thing ever. However, I knew that I probably would not get this opportunity for awhile so I had to make the most of it. You only get to live once and nothing is promised so always take the chance - and if it doesn't work out, at least you won't have the regret of not doing it.
Now, my next thing to cross off my bucket list is to ski and/or snowboard. Who wants to go?
Upon driving back home, we came across this gorgeous sunset. It reminded me of cotton candy and despite the temperatures dropping below 30 degrees, we ran out of the car and snapped this view before it disappeared.
You certainly can't catch a sunset like this back in smoggy LA.
Kicking off 2017 with a day trip to Big Bear was perfect. Followed up by an overnight stay in Catalina, 2017 isn't looking too bad so far.
Next up - Catalina Island recap. Stay tuned!
