Malibu Beach Inn

The last stay of the year should be at a place that is calm, relaxing, and ultimately filled with views of your preference. In my case, an ocean front hotel room at Malibu Beach Inn was the perfect way to end 2017 and our stay exceed our expectations.

Malibu is known to be a great weekend getaway and as many times as I've driven through, spent the day at the beach there, and even went to a wedding at the winery, I never knew that this gem was here all along. What a discovery because now I can't recommend it enough to everyone and the best part is, it's a true escape without having to really go too far (from LA).

Malibu Beach Inn is right on the beach and waking up to the sunset from your balcony is probably the most peaceful way to start your morning. I wish it was how I could start every morning to be honest.

Upon checking in, you'll notice right away that this luxurious beach resort is for those who are seeking to disappear from the hustle of the city. It isn't a huge but rather exclusive with two floors for guests and the first floor dedicated to the Carbon Beach Club restaurant. The lobby and where you would check-in is right across the way from the main entrance, disconnected from the rest of the building. In addition, the gym is across the street but really, are you going to give up working out on the beach for a confined gym? Yeah, I don't think so. Just take a jog on the beach or wake up early enough for complimentary yoga classes offered by the resort.

For those who rather just chill in the room, there is complimentary coffee offered every morning downstairs and newspapers of your choice that can be delivered to you. Just grab your cup and head back to the room, unwind by the fireplace and just listen to the sounds of the sea.

In our case, we decided to spend our morning with breakfast in bed (via room service) and then worked on a few projects for the rest of the afternoon. By the way, the room has a Bose speaker and two TV's that swivel in any direction, so you never have to argue over what to watch. We cracked open our bottle of wine (thanks to the resort for the gift) and enjoyed it out on the balcony while watching the sunset. Normally, KSOLE and I would be out and about exploring around but there's  just something about Malibu Beach Inn that made us want to just slow down and enjoy life.

We didn't get to take advantage of the many activities the resort offers to arrange for you, including in-room massages and horseback riding, but certainly will the next visit!

Dinner by the ocean is always a good idea and so that's how we chose to end our night.

Carbon Beach Club has a delicious variety of meals including organic and locally sourced ingredients. With an emphasis on supporting the community, Carbon Beach Club creates seasonal menus based on what their resident farmer's markets are carrying. Not only does this keep the menu fresh and fun, it also keeps customers like me coming back.

While it was a bit colder at night, the staff was so sweet and accommodating by providing blankets and pushing the heat lamps closer to us. We enjoyed a cozy evening on the patio, listening to the waves and chowing down on fresh seafood. I highly recommend the crab legs and salmon.

Per usual, no matter how full I get, I opted in on desert. It just so happened they were serving freshly baked gingerbread men, which are my favorite cookies during this time of year. It was so good! KSOLE had the chocolate chip cookie with ice cream, which reminded us of a pizookie from BJ's.

Overall, if you aren't staying at the resort, you can still make reservations for the Carbon Beach Club and I highly recommend you to try them at least once!

We went back to our room, happy and full, to say the least and actually was craving the food again the next night. So, we ordered room service the next day and enjoyed the rest of our stay just relaxing by the ocean.

Thank you Malibu Beach Inn for offering such a lovely stay and providing us with excellent service. For an escape that's not too far from LA and allows you to truly unwind, I cannot recommend any other place.
