Hotel Monaco Portland

I love a good hotel with personality, especially one that accepts dogs.

Hotel Monaco in Portland has been dubbed “Most Beautiful Hotel in Oregon,” recently and as soon as you walk through those front doors, you can see why. From the charming attention to detail in decor to the quality of service they provide to their guests, the Hotel Monaco does not miss a beat.

While our stay at the property was a short two-nights, it was unanimously voted by myself and KSOLE’s family, as a favorite, and it wasn’t just because this place was gorgeous.

No, it wasn’t the salon-style cozy lobby, free coffee and tea every morning, happy hour with live entertainment in the evening or even the spacious rooms that they accommodated us with that made us fall in love with Hotel Monaco. No, it was their genuine care and attention to detail in the treatment of their guests that sold us.

I watched as they gave treats to the furry guests checking in, to making sure all customers approaching the lobby and front desk were greeted with smiles. We felt welcomed and wanted, which surprisingly isn’t always the vibe we get when we check-in.

In fact, we arrived several hours before our room was ready and while they couldn’t get us in earlier than 3PM, they made sure our bags were stored and offered to help with recommendations around the area. We were sent a text once the rooms were ready and were swiftly taken to our room as soon as we returned back to the property. I have to admit that I am a bit spoiled and have been conditioned in the last two years to expect little welcome treats from hotels whenever we stay, but this gift from the Hotel Monaco wasn’t something that could be bought.

Alongside our welcome tray was hand-written postcard from the front desk welcoming me. Sure, notes are standard for guests but this postcard also had little hand drawn graphics of all the places I visited on my last trip in Portland - places I blogged about in this post. I love when a hotel does their research and takes the time out to know who they are expecting, it shows that they really do care (and being a fan of my blog is a major plus!)

Any hotel can have amazing amenities and be luxurious as hell, but it’s details like this that I truly cherish and will remember about a place. Thank you Hotel Monaco for that special touch!

Aside from all the above, and by now if you aren’t itching to book Hotel Monaco, let me give you a tour of the room we stayed at to seal the deal.

With every hotel stay, I always request for a room with the best possible natural lighting as I despise using flash for my photos. The hotel did not disappoint in fulfilling this request and you can see for yourself exactly how cute this place is below.

There are so many little details about our room that I adored, from the duck feet lamp stands to the wallpaper and carpet, to the bathroom which was stunning. The space was perfect in size and it is easily one of my top 10 hotels in the U.S. You can bet I’ll be back the next time I’m in Portland!

Not to mention the location is great and the walls are sound proof, which is a plus for me (I’m a light sleeper). Valet is located downstairs and they are pretty quick and attentive.

Thank you Hotel Monaco for having us and making us feel like royalty during our stay.
