Food Guide: San Jose del Cabo
Our trip to San Jose del Cabo was brief, but it was filled with delicious food, amazing views, and was just enough time to allow us to relax before returning home to the LA craziness. I honestly feel like all we did was eat, sleep, and repeat — but that isn’t a bad thing either. We discovered some great restaurants and coffee spots while we were there so if you’re in need of some recommendations, keep reading!
La Lupita
If you’re craving delicious Mexican cuisine and mouth-watering tacos, then make sure you stop by La Lupita within the first day or two of your trip. Now, we’ve been to Mexico a few times in the last couple of years and so we’ve had our fair share of tacos. We also have some favorites in Los Angeles, but La Lupita is at the top of our list now. Yes, it’s that good. I recommend ordering 3-4 tacos per person, with an appetizer, and a cocktail. Their drinks are equally as good as their tacos. For dessert, ask about the churros! In the evenings, they tend to have live music but reservations are recommended for dinner. Aside from their food, the service was spectacular and the ambiance is lively.
Fabric Sushi
So, we initially wanted to try another sushi spot but could not find it at all. We ended up calling a nearby hotel to inquire about directions and the person we spoke to actually redirected us to Fabric Sushi. According to him, this place was way better and he was not wrong. There are two locations, we ended up going to the one in a plaza. First off, the portions are pretty big so be careful of how much you order. Their staff was helpful in suggesting what to order and was on point in regards to ensuring we had what we needed during the entire time we were there. We also were the last party of the night yet they allowed us to take our time, didn’t rush us at all, and wasn’t in a hurry to move us out. The sushi itself was so fresh, especially their tuna (as I got the sashimi). Their lobster roll is a favorite as well. Overall, we were pretty stuffed and happy!
Acre Restaurant & Cocktail Bar
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, I’m sure you’ve heard of the beautiful Acre Baja hotel. Many know it as one of the top wedding venues, others love it as a couple’s getaway because their treehouses are amazing. But then there are others, like me, that love it for their rescue puppies and donkey, Burrito. While most hotels that are this beautiful fall short somewhere, Acre seems to have it all covered and their food lives up to the hype. The drinks are a must, order that cocktail. Their appetizers, all I can say is to not get too full off of them, even though they are all so delicious. The entrees are portioned perfectly, and I love the variety they offer with their fresh ingredients. I don’t care how full you are after the appetizers and entrees, you have to get dessert. The options are endless, and I truly wish I brought my Lactaid with me, so I could try their famous cheddar biscuits! So go book that treehouse and indulge fully in their food.
Cafe Dona Nena
Grab a cup of coffee or a matcha latte, a pastry if you wish, and then walk around this area for the afternoon. Cafe Dona Nena is located within a plaza and offers a wide range of coffee options, and most importantly for me, alternative milk options. I got a matcha latte and while it was just a little too sweet for me, it was still delicious. They have a little outdoor patio/courtyard you can work at too.
LAB
If you want a piece of LA, but with better avocado toast, then hit up LAB. Yes, I said it. The avocado toast here is one of my favorites and I personally like it more than any other places I’ve tried in LA. In addition, this place is the perfect little oasis to hideaway in the afternoon or to get some work done, in a peaceful setting. Not to mention that their coffee is delicious. This is the spot you want to take your friends to.
The Breakdown
This place is where you go for fresh beats and coffee, but also their chilaquiles, burrito, and fish tacos are so good. Their outdoor seating is perfect hanging out with your friends while listening to 90’s hip-hop. The staff is friendly, the food is good, and the coffee is strong. We love this place so much that we went twice!
