Honeymoon in Mexico City

Mexico is my second home, and I say that in the most heartfelt way in that no matter what part we visit, I always feel so happy and calm. In the last decade, we’ve visited La Paz, Sayulita, Todos Santos, Rosarito, Cabo San Lucas, Cabo San Jose, Punta Mita, Cancun, Tulum, and we finally made our way over to Mexico City. We heard so much about it from our friends and while we expected to enjoy the trip, we didn’t think we would fall in love so easily with CDMX.

We chose Mexico City as our honeymoon because the best and most memorable moments we have together have been in some part of Mexico. But rather than revisit one of the many beautiful cities/towns we been to already, we wanted to give the big city a chance. I have to admit that I avoided CDMX for awhile because everyone mentioned how large it was, and I honestly prefer smaller towns when it comes to vacationing. However, we did purposely opt to stay in La Condesa, which is right next to Roma Norte. It was perfect. We stayed at a small adults-only boutique hotel called Casa Luciana. Not only was it stunning and aesthetically beautiful, our stay came with breakfast everyday and there is a spa & rooftop patio.

Getting around was super easy. We either walked because most of the restaurants and shops we wanted to go to were 15-20 minutes away, or we would take an Uber which was always less than $10 USD. We went in May and the weather was perfect. Not too hot, not too cold, and not super crowded. We stayed for 5 days and 4 nights, which is just good enough for a taste but we plan on going back for maybe a week next time.

As for communication, we did use Google translate for some places but most people we came across spoke some English. Regardless of the communication barriers, everyone was so friendly and nice. I cannot attest to other areas but La Condesa, Polanco, and Roma Norte felt safe to us. But we also did not go out to any bars or clubs, or stay out past 11PM.

We absolutely adore Mexico City and would recommend it to anyone especially those who like traveling with your dogs, because dogs are welcomed almost every where and the way they love their pets there is evident.
