Our Wedding Color Palette

Best way to guarantee that your wedding photos look really good, especially if you have a specific backdrop? Create a color palette and make it a requirement that your guests show up in these colors only. This also works really well if you have a group of people attending who have different styles, and you want a more cohesive look for your wedding - no matter how big or small. Personally, I love it when any event provides a color scheme and our initial thought was to have everyone wear all black, but with the Santa Barbara Courthouse as our venue, we wanted to tap into the earthy tones instead.

While we did create a color palette for our guests, we were also lenient in terms of the actual shades. We wanted our guests to choose a base and then from there, find a similar shade within that color so that there was still a variety of colors. To make things even easier on the ladies, I recommended Birdy Grey to them. I’ve worn a few bridesmaid dresses from them and love their quality. Not to mention that they offer a wide selection of styles and sizes.

I took both moms, the best man (KSOLE’s sister), and my MOH to Birdy Grey’s showroom a few months beforehand so that they can try on some dresses. You can see how that visit went here. I wanted the ladies in forest green, shades of peach or mauve, and/or blush pinks. My mom and sisters opted to all match in forest green, while everyone else had shades of peach/mauve/pink.

After narrowing down their selections, Birdy Grey got the order going and in less than a week, we got the dresses. Our officiant is located in New York, so she placed an online order and got it in no time. Everyone loved their dresses and felt absolutely comfortable the entire ceremony, which is important!

For the dads, we had them in grey suits. For the rest of the guys, we gave them the option to either do dark green or dark grey. They had the option to either wear a blazer or just a dress shirt. No restrictions on shoes but we noted that everyone would be on grass, so be mindful of heels.

The end result made us absolutely happy and we loved how our photos turned out with these colors. Everyone looked beautiful and we are just so grateful that everyone had no problem with the color palette.
